School Tours

Curriculum Guide2Guided tours for school groups, Monday – Friday, may be arranged by calling the Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center at 870-598-3487 or by contacting Shannon Williams, Director.

Recommended grade levels are 4th–12th grades. Economic information related to the Great Depression and how the Pfeiffer family impacted the surrounding area is included in the tour.

Information concerning the 1920s and 1930s styles of clothing, architecture, furniture, art and music is available.

Short stories by Ernest Hemingway also may be read to the group and related to the Hemingway Barn Studio.

Arrangements for specific needs, curriculum objectives, or areas of emphasis may be made by contacting Shannon Williams. Teachers should consider consulting our Curriculum Guide for information related to connecting a museum visit to state frameworks and the Common Core Curriculum. (A Curriculum Guide for Missouri will be available in January 2014.)

Maximum group size recommended is 60, including sponsors. Please have one adult sponsor for every ten students.

Allow about one hour for a group of 40 or more for the actual tour.

Admission is $5.00 per student. Sponsors are free.
