Award winning poet, Faye Williams Jones, read from & signed her book Erasing People in the Hemingway Barn-Studio on Friday, November 6, 2009, from 2-4 p.m.  Faye writes many types of poetry, including parallel poetry.  This book is poetry based on living with chronic cancer.  For more information contact Deanna Dismukes at ddismukes@astate.edu

HPMEC is celebrating its ten-year anniversary, July 1999 to July 2009, with a new Hemingway exhibit in the Hemingway Barn-Studio.The Piggott Connection:  A Timeline of Ernest and Pauline Hemingways' Visits to the Pfeiffer Home. 

    

The Fall Hemingway-Pfeiffer Creative Writers' Retreat was held November 2-6, 2009. Enrollment is limited to 15.  This was HPMEC's second retreat of 2009 and the twelfth retreat for adults since the Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum & Educational Center opened July 4, 1999.   Writers attended from Piggott, North Little Rock, Searcy, Rector, Benton, & Hot Springs Village, AR, and from Bernie & Springfield, MO.  The Nov. mentor was Roland Mann of Oxford, MS. HPMEC is one of three Arkansas State University Heritage Sites.  The next Writers' Retreat will be June 7-11, 2010., with mentor Dr. Robert Lamm, ASU.  Contact Deanna Dismukes, Education Coordinator, ddismukes@astate.edu or 870-598-3487 for information.

Contact Deanna Dismukes at HPMEC to reserve the Educational Center for a private retreat for your group.  No instructor is required.  Lunches may be arranged.

After touring HPMEC, visit the Matilda & Karl Pfeiffer Museum & Study Center next door to view a very special mineral and geode collection as well as a Native American collection from the local area.  Reservations for parties of 10 or more requested.  Please call 870-598-3228.  No admission fee is charged at the Matilda & Karl Pfeiffer Museum & Study Center.
