Young at Art VI, a student art exhibition and competition, is May 3-10. The event celebrates the Paris wedding of Ernest Hemingway and Pauline Pfeiffer, May 10, 1927, and is a feature of the Piggott Art Festival, Saturday, May 3. Students, grades 7-12,within a 30-mile radius of Piggott are invited to submit art work. Any two-dimensional medium is acceptable. Work must be matted, not framed. Deadline for entry is Wednesday, April 23. Awards will be presented at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 10th: First place - $35, Second place - $25, Third place - $15, Honorable Mention and Participant. A Celebration of Quilting will be held on Saturday, May 17, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For information on entering quilts in the show please call 870-598-3487 (Deanna Dismukes) or email ddismukes@centurytel.net Admission for viewing the quilts is $3 per adult. There is no fee to show quilts. Piggott's annual Super Cruise Rod Run will be in progress on that day at Heritage Park, two miles west of the museum. Hemingway-Pfeiffer Creative Writing Retreats (for adults) are scheduled for June 2-6 and again June 16-20, 2008.
