Event Details

Steve Paul, author of Hemingway at Eighteen

This weekend retreat offers participants a chance to explore Hemingway and his contemporaries in World War I.  Participants will receive three books related to Hemingway’s World War I service – a biography (The Ambulance Drivers), a novel (John Dos Passos’ Three Soldiers), and a memoir (e.e. cummings’ The Enormous Room).  These books can be read at your leisure in the months leading up to the retreat.

On September 7-8, we’ll join together in Piggott for a weekend of book discussions and fun activities.  Steve Paul, author of Hemingway at Eighteen, will join us to discuss his book.  We’ll also have a showing of A Farewell to Arms in the building that used to be the Franklin Theater (where the film premiered in 1932).

This event is part of the museum’s commemoration of the Centennial of World War I
