Dr. Adam Long, Director
Adam is the director of the Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum, which includes day-to-day responsibilities for policies and programs. He is also in charge of educational programming. If you would like to tie your tour in with specific curriculum frameworks, or if you would like someone to speak to your class or group, let him know. In addition to running educational programming at the museum, he also teaches courses for the university.
Shannon Williams, Museum Store Manager
Shannon is the museum’s administrative assistant and museum store manager. In this capacity, she is responsible for a variety of administrative tasks, including inventory for the museum store. If you’d like to make an order from the store, please contact her. Also, if you are interested in making a donation to the museum, she is the primary contact.
Karen Trout, Tour Guide and Housekeeper
Karen is the museum’s tour guide and housekeeper. She is responsible for day-to-day care of the museum and its artifacts. She is also the museum’s primary tour guide. If you’d like to book a group or special tour, contact her.
Arkansas Heritage Sites
The Arkansas Heritage Sites Office serves as the umbrella for all Arkansas State University Heritage Sites, including the Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center. The office is located on the Seventh Floor of the Dean B. Ellis Library on the A-State campus in Jonesboro.

Dr. Ruth Hawkins, Executive Director
Ruth is Director of Arkansas Heritage Sites at Arkansas State University, which includes overall responsibilities for policies and programs at the Southern Tenant Farmers Museum in Tyronza, Lakeport Plantation in Lake Village, the Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center in Piggott, and the Johnny Cash Boyhood Home Project in Dyess. Ruth also is Executive Director of Arkansas Delta Byways, a 15-county tourism promotion association that promotes Eastern Arkansas and its two national scenic byways: Crowley’s Ridge Parkway and the Arkansas Great River Road, and is a faculty member in A-State’s Heritage Studies Ph.D. program.
Paula Miles, Assistant Director, Arkansas Heritage Sites
Paula provides administrative support and oversight for the Southern Tenant Farmers Museum, Lakeport Plantation, Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Education Center, and the Johnny Cash Boyhood Home Project. She also is Treasurer for Arkansas Delta Byways. Her responsibilities include serving as office manager, coordinating special events, and developing ongoing activities in the Delta region and along the Crowley’s Ridge Parkway and the Arkansas Great River Road national scenic byways.
